For the 2025-26 school year, Excelsior has achieved our highest ever NC school report card grade with a perfect 100.0 growth score and an overall score of 76 — a very solid “B” grade — for the first time in school history. Not only did we achieve our own personal best, but we exceeded our previous high score by 12 points!
Â
To put these numbers into perspective, less than 1% of schools across North Carolina earned a perfect 100.0 growth score. Excelsior has the highest growth score of any school in Durham County. Out of all the charter schools in North Carolina, Excelsior has the second highest growth index.
Â
Excelsior also managed another great accomplishment–scoring the highest reading grade of any school in Durham County.
Â
Excelsior’s overall score puts us in the top ~19% of all schools in North Carolina.
Â
For a charter school that opened its doors in 2015 to achieve this level of success in its first decade is a real vindication of Excelsior’s classical education model and the incredible hard work (blood, sweat, and tears, in any order) that our students, teachers, staff, and all of the many members of Excelsior’s extended community have put into making Excelsior an amazing place.
Â
What a great community accomplishment. We should all be very proud of our students
